All About the ECAS
What is ECAS
ECAS stands from Electronic Client Application Status. This on-line service allows Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) clients to view securely the status of their immigration and/or citizenship application(s) on-line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; anytime, anywhere.
When can I Check it
CIC states that they update ECAS statuses usually on Tuesday’s. But often we have noticed updates on other days as well. Usually applicant see their ECAS statuses updated about a week or so after their are charged. DD applicants however could take upto 2 weeks after the applications received on the same date as theirs are started to be checked. You will need to have a UCI to check it.
What is the UCI
UCI stands for Universal Client Identifier. It is allotted for life to applicants when they apply for any form of Canadian Visa. (Student, Temporary or PR). (More on UCI @ CIC Site)You will have one if you ever got a Canadian Visa or have had an application returned. It is usually written by hand on the returned app. It is formatted as 9123-4567 or 91234567

How to Check ECAS
You will need to have your UCI handy to check the status of your application.
Navigate to the ECAS Website. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas
Hit Continue (After reading the text of-course 😉
Read the Terms and Conditions !! Select the Check Box and hit Continue
Fill in your Information as shown above.
Note: Make sure of accurately put your Birth Date and Place of Birth not to mention the UCI in the format 0000-0000
