Most of us during the course of our application  or one process or another need to get our documents notarized or shown as certified copies. In my case after visiting government institutes, I was really unable to do so.

After further research I found that as per Canadian regulations several professions such as Professional Engineers, Medical Doctors and School Principals can certify certain documents (mainly identity documents) for various applications to the government agencies (e.g., application for overseas police certificate)

However, in general only the following can perform notarization for subsequent document authentication and legalization.

  • Commissioner of (for) Oaths
  • Notary Public
  • Student-at-Law
  • Lawyer
  • Solicitor
  • Barrister

Therefore I started contacting local lawyer offices in Riyadh and asking them if they would certify the copy of my documents. In the end I selected Mohammed Al Jarbou Law Firm who offered to certify each document for 100 SAR.

The documents were accepted by CIC as well as University of Toronto in Canada.
